Agronomy Sales Specialist

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. has opportunies for Agronomy Sales Specialists at our Mt. Vernon location. 

 Position Responsibilities

  • On Farm Calls
  • Test Plots and Yield Checks
  • Farmer Crop Plans
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Product Inventory

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Communicate with location manager concerning daily activities
  • Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of facility
  • Assist with outbound and inbound agronomy products
  • Operate all equipment & vehicles according to COFC policy and procedure along with all local, state, and federal laws
  • Ensure Safety compliance
  • Provide courteous customer service
  • All other duties as assigned

 Basic Qualifications (required):

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-3 years additional Agronomy/seed experience, OR Scouting/intern experience, OR Cooperative work experience, OR Agricultural background
  • Extensive knowledge of agronomy
  • Experience spraying chemicals
  • Ability to provide cost effective services for co-op patrons
  • Ability to work extended hours in-season
  • Good mathematical aptitude
  • Certified Crop Adviser License
  • Grain Grading License
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record

Custom Applicator

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. is seeking a Custom Applicator to work at our Mt. Vernon facility.  This will be a Seasonal position which could potentially lead to Full Time.

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. has opportunities at our Mt. Vernon and Waldo locations for Seasonal Custom Applicators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS 

  •         Communicate with Agronomist or location manager concerning daily activities
  •         Apply dry and liquid fertilizer, chemicals and lime to customer's fields
  •         Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of facility grounds including mowing and spraying weeds
  •         Assist with outbound and inbound agronomy products
  •         Ensure Safety compliance.
  •         Maintain & record maintenance of all equipment
  •         Record daily application logs.
  •         Assist with measure and counting of inventory of dry and liquid fertilizers, NH3, lime, and chemicals.
  •         Provide courteous customer service.
  •         Operate all equipment & vehicles according to COFC policy and procedure along with all local, state, and federal laws.

REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE:  3 years Custom Application experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Commercial pesticide applicators license with 2A, 2C and 2D endorsements or able to obtain one. 

Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record. This position requires the safe operation of a motor vehicle to perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must meet the qualifications set forth in COFC’s motor vehicle safety policy. Failure to meet these qualifications could result in removal from this position.

Office Assistant Part-Time

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. is seeking Part-Time Office Assistant to work at our Prospect location. 

Position Responsibilities:

This part-time position includes recordkeeping, grain accounting, reporting and marketing, processing billing, processing walk-in payments, working with pre-paid contracts, answering phone and various clerical tasks.  This person will be expected to conduct and maintain an accurate inventory system.  The ideal person will be able to conduct multiple tasks at the same time while maintaining a pleasant, professional demeanor.

The hours for this position will be Monday-Friday four to five hours per day.  There will be times during busy seasons, typically June, July, September and October that the schedule may fluctuate and require 40+ hours per week which can include weekends and holidays.

It is imperative that the Office Assistant maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork with the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative.

Essential Office Assistant Duties:

  • Communicate effectively with merchandisers and our remote locations
  • Must be able to meet and work with strict deadlines
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail
  • Must have strong math skills
  • Must have strong computer skills/ experience
  • Accounts payable / Accounts receivable background helpful
  • Agricultural background helpful
  • Perform various clerical responsibilities as assigned
  • Scale Operator

Seasonal Driver / General Labor

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. has openings in Waldo, Mt. Gilead, and Mt. Vernon locations for Seasonal Driver / General Labor associates.  Positions will be available approximately 6-8 weeks beginning early APRIL.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Pick up and deliver product to customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner, ensuring the truck is operated in a safe manner at all times
  • Follow all guidelines and regulations for hauling seed fertilizer and other bulk liquid products
  • Perform visual inspection of truck before leaving premises and complete maintenance report on all deficiencies
  • Report all accidents, traffic violations, and damage to vehicles
  • Complete daily maintenance report and notify supervisor of any needed repairs.
  • Manage all aspects of the load on your truck
  • Maintain cleanliness of your truck both inside and out
  • Ensure on time loading and unloading
  • Provide excellent customer service, treating all customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Be available to load and/or unload your loads as needed
  • Use sound judgment and abilities to support the best interests of the company in all situations
  • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned
  • Assist in the warehouse when not delivering product
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays to meet business needs
