Grain/Agronomy Location Manager

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op, Inc. is dedicated to providing our members quality products and services. Due to a pending retirement we have a rare opportunity for an experienced Ag Professional to oversee operations of our Mt. Gilead location.  Reporting to the CEO, The Grain/Agronomy Location Manager is a multi-faceted position working with liquid/dry fertilizer, anhydrous, seed, chemicals, custom application, grain and feed in Morrow County and surrounding areas.

Position Objective

Direct, promote, and coordinate operations in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings

  • Improve the cooperative’s efficiency
  • Help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals
  • Result in outstanding customer service

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for driving improved performance, customer relationships, plant asset utilization, and positive employee relations.
  • The ability to lead and coach employees while promoting a safe working environment is required.
  • Developing and increasing the customer base and relations will be imperative to the success of this candidate.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture/Agronomy or related field
  • Extensive background in Agronomy and Grain
  • Ability to oversee maintenance and repairs of the facility and equipment
  • Work with and develop operational and capital budget
  • Minimum of 10 years agronomy and grain experience
  • Minimum of 10 years management experience

Agronomy Intern

Agronomy Intern - MUST BE LOCATED NEAR MARION COUNTY, CRAWFORD COUNTY or KNOX COUNTY OHIO, pass a drug screen, and NO Traffic Violations on MVR. All others will be rejected.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist agronomists and field representatives in grower consultations
  • Gather information for blending facility
  • Learn Fertilizer Program
  • Manage assigned grower fields (scouting)
  • Assist in various field trials on assigned fields
  • Analyze field data
  • Assist in fertilizer delivery

Non-Essential Functions: Perform other job duties as assigned

Education: Currently enrolled at an accredited university in an applicable field of study

Job Standards and Prerequisites: Experience in the use of computers and related software, e.g., Word, Access, Excel, Internet and Email. Ability to travel within the service area. Occasional time and travel away from office and service area for industry related meetings, trade shows, conferences, etc. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

Grain Coordinator

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Grain Coordinator for our Mt. Vernon and Fredericktown facilities.  This position reports directly to the Branch Manager. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in grain facility operations including receiving and loading grain, grain bin dryers, mechanical operations of grain equipment.

Position Objective

  • Communicate with Branch Manager and Grain Division manager to coordinate and complete all aspects of the grain operation.
  • Coordinate labor by supervising and directing employees.
  • Improve the cooperative’s efficiency
  • Help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals
  • Result in outstanding customer service

Position Responsibilities

Employees are required to work occasional weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.  It is imperative that the successful candidate display a positive attitude that promotes teamwork and a favorable image of the cooperative.

 Main Responsibilities:

  • Properly load/unload trucks
  • Perform minor maintenance and greasing of equipment
  • Assist with cleaning of bins and silos
  • Learn the proper operation of all equipment
  • Maintain and clean work area on a daily basis
  • Communicate with Agronomist or location manager concerning daily activities
  • Apply dry and liquid fertilizer, chemicals and lime to customer's fields
  • Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of facility grounds
  • Assist with outbound and inbound agronomy products
  • Ensure Safety compliance.
  • Maintain & record maintenance of all equipment
  • Record daily application logs.
  • Assist with measure and counting of inventory of dry and liquid fertilizers, NH3, lime, and chemicals.
  • Provide courteous customer service.
  • Operate all equipment & vehicles according to COFC policy and procedure along with all local, state, and federal laws.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be able to meet and work with strict deadlines

Part-Time and Seasonal Driver

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. has several openings for Part-time and Seasonal Driver’s. Class A and Class B CDL opportunities are available.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Pick up and deliver product to customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner, ensuring the truck is operated in a safe manner at all times
  • Follow all guidelines and regulations for hauling grain, seed, fertilizer and other bulk liquid products
  • Perform visual inspection of truck before leaving premises and complete maintenance report on all deficiencies
  • Report all accidents, traffic violations, and damage to vehicles
  • Complete daily maintenance report and notify supervisor of any needed repairs.
  • Manage all aspects of the load on your truck
  • Maintain cleanliness of your truck both inside and out
  • Ensure on time loading and unloading
  • Provide excellent customer service, treating all customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Be available to load and/or unload your loads as needed
  • Use sound judgment and abilities to support the best interests of the company in all situations
  • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned
  • Assist in the warehouse when not delivering product
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays to meet business needs

  Agronomist

 Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. currently has an Agronomist opening in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

 Position Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert of products, services, and prices to assist in developing competitive marketing strategies
  • Work closely with customers and growers to recommend the proper fertilizer and crop protection products to meet each individual’s needs
  • Routinely conducts soil testing and maintain reports
  • Responsible for dry, liquid, NH3, lime and chemical inventories
  • Maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative.
  • Conduct sales calls in a professional and courteous manner

 Essential Duties & Functions

  • Ability to provide cost effective services for co-op patrons
  • Ability to work extended hours in-season

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. (COFC) has opportunities at multiple locations for Custom Applicators.  These full-time positions will require employee willingness to work in a variety of roles when not performing custom application.

  •         Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of facility grounds including mowing and spraying weeds
  •         Assist with outbound and inbound agronomy products
  •         Ensure Safety compliance.
  •         Maintain & record maintenance of all equipment
  •         Record daily application logs.
  •         Assist with measure and counting of inventory of dry and liquid fertilizers, NH3, lime, and chemicals.
  •         Provide courteous customer service.
  •         Operate all equipment & vehicles according to COFC policy and procedure along with all local, state, and federal laws.

REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE:  3 years Custom Application experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
