Experienced Custom Applicator
Central Ohio Farmers Co-op, Inc. (COFC) is dedicated to providing our members with quality products and services. To be successful as a Custom Applicator, the candidate should enjoy working both independently and in a team environment, be a self-starter, possess independent-thinking skills and have strong basic math skills.
It is imperative that the successful candidate display a positive attitude that promotes teamwork and a favorable image of the cooperative. Employees are required to work occasional weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
- Communicate with Agronomist or location manager concerning daily activities
- Apply dry and liquid fertilizer, chemicals and lime to customer's fields
- Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of facility grounds
- Assist with outbound and inbound agronomy products
- Understand and follow all safety guidelines
- Maintain & record maintenance of all equipment
- Record daily application logs.
- Assist with measure and counting of inventory of dry and liquid fertilizers, NH3, lime, and chemicals.
- Operate all equipment & vehicles according to COFC policy and procedure along with all local, state, and federal laws.
- Provide courteous customer service.
REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE: Farming background or prior agriculture related employment required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures using basic math skills
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Commercial pesticide applicators license with 2A and 2C endorsements or able to obtain one.
Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record. This position requires the safe operation of a motor vehicle to perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must meet the qualifications set forth in COFC’s motor vehicle safety policy. Failure to meet these qualifications could result in removal from this position.

Grain Handler
Are you looking for a challenging career in the Ag industry? Central Ohio Farmers Co-op, Inc. is seeking team members to work at our Marion facility as Grain Handlers. It is imperative that the successful candidate display an attitude that promotes teamwork and a favorable image of the cooperative. The candidate should be a self-starter and possess independent-thinking skills. Employees are required to work occasional weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. This and all positions require pre-employment, random and post-accident drug/alcohol testing. We also do reasonable suspicion drug/alcohol testing.
Main Responsibilities:
- Properly load/unload trucks
- Properly load railcars
- Operate various equipment
- Perform minor maintenance and greasing of equipment
- Assist with cleaning of bins and silos
- Learn the proper operation of all equipment
- Maintain and clean work area on a daily basis
Position Requirements
- Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record (5 years)
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must have a positive attitude
- Must be able to work at heights
- MUST HAVE GOOD ATTENDANCE
- Must be safety minded and follow all safety rules and guidelines

- The Grain Handler position is labor intensive and will require bending, lifting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, working at heights and other various laborious activities. This is an outdoor position which requires the handler to work in all sorts of weather and be exposed to dusty conditions.

Machine Operator 3rd shift
Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. is a member owned cooperative, dedicated to providing our customers with quality products and services.
This 3rd Shift opening is in the Central Ohio Soy facility in Marion, OH. Hours will be 6 pm - 6 am. Positions may require employees to be cross-trained at the Marion Grain facility at the same location. The Machine Operator may be required to work five or six days in a workweek during our busy seasons.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist all areas of the unloading, loading and transferring of grain and grain products which may include but not be limited to truck and rail operations
- Develop knowledge of the product you are dealing with and its hazardous properties
- Must be aware of and follow all applicable safety and environmental regulations with respect to the product you are handling
- Understand the proper operation of conveyance equipment that is utilized in the shipping, receiving and transferring of grain and grain products and the associated safety systems of that equipment
- Perform maintenance work and follow preventive maintenance schedules.
- Visually monitors grain, meal and oil for irregularities and take proper action when discovered
- Removes choke-ups, cleans spills and follow proper safety policies while doing such
- Properly and accurately record all applicable documentation
- Clean and prepare storage facilities including but not limited to grain bins and flat storage
- Follow established policies and procedures, along with proper communication, when operating grain handling equipment
- Learn the gauging and reporting of product levels in grain storage, trucks and rail cars if applicable
- Monitors grain handling equipment conditions on a routine frequency (daily equipment checks)
- Collect proper grain and grain product samples for testing when needed.
- Understand how to safely shutdown and isolate equipment for maintenance using Lock Out Tag Out procedures
- Keep current and maintain all training requirements for the position
- Assist in all other grain handling functions including but not limited to grain receiving and shipping via truck and rail.
- Provide excellent customer service, treating all customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Use sound judgment and abilities to support the best interests of the company in all situations
- Perform other related duties as needed or assigned
At a MINIMUM, qualified candidates will need to meet the following Position Requirements to be considered for an interview:

Commercial Driver Class A / Tender Driver

COFC has a current opening for a Commercial Driver Class A / Tender Driver. This position includes working with both grain and agronomy operations and will require occasional overtime including weekends and holidays as needed. Candidates must have a valid Ohio Class A Commercial Driver License with a clean driving record. The candidate will also need to maintain a minimum of one (1) year DOT physical and any necessary endorsements. An agricultural background is preferred, but not required.
Position Responsibilities

Propane Service Technician / Mechanic

COFC is currently seeking a Propane Service Technician / Mechanic at our Green Camp location.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Must have advanced mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems of delivery vehicle fleet.
- Effectively diagnose problems, troubleshoot, and determine necessary repairs or services.
- Keep available equipment in good working and presentable condition.
- Meet all company, governmental and equipment-specific inspections.
- Test products after service/repair completion to ensure products are functioning properly.
- Use sound judgment to deal with and eliminate safety related issues.
- Utilize technology to review schematics and place parts orders.
- Provide detailed and clear service reports.
- Advise management of shortages and recommended repairs or service to ensure safe operation of equipment.
- Perform maintenance and repairs in accordance with equipment manufacturer's instructions and recommendations.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment daily.
- Deliver, set and install propane tanks and outside lines, conduct system tests and purge cylinders and tanks consistent with company standards and maintaining related documentation.
- During slow seasons, conduct preventative maintenance by washing and painting propane tanks
- Ensure that Company and Government safety, policy and regulatory standards are met and maintain zero preventable accidents
- Maintain safety and compliance records
- Maintain service vehicle by cleaning interior and exterior of the vehicle, reviewing maintenance record, perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
- Work a flexible schedule with after-hours emergency call-outs as needed
- Communicate clearly and effectively to convey information to new and existing customers.
- Maintain a professional image and superior customer service.
- Notify supervisor of any issues that might impact safety, customer satisfaction, productivity, and other established goals and standards.
- Be alert and conscientious by working in a safe manner at all times.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Requirements:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent training and experience.
- Must have valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B or A with Hazmat endorsement and meet applicable state and federal licensing and certification requirements.
- Must have clean driving record.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of one-year DOT medical certificate.
- Compliance with all Company policies, procedures and practices is expected.
- Must be drug free and agree to follow all drug and alcohol policies which include participation in pre-employment, random and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
- Must be willing to undergo a background check in accordance with the law.
- Must complete required job training.
- Must be able to stand for long periods at a time.
The candidate will be required to work outdoors in all weather and driving conditions. Lifting, pushing, pulling, bending and climbing in and out of the truck are requirements of the position.
